As an actor he has starred in the films City of God, The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou, Elipsis, The Escapist, Carmo, Hit the Road, Elite Squad: The Enemy Within, Reis e Ratos, E Ai… Comeu?, and Pele: Birth of a Legend. Jorge won a Best Actor award at the 2002 Havana Film Festival for Cidade de Deus. He was nominated for a Latin Grammy Award in 2015.
