From 2011 to 2016 Heyerdahl starred as The Swede on the television series Hell on Wheels. In 2016 he starred as Sam in the TV series Van Helsing and in 2017 as Gagnon in the TV series Tin Star. Heyerdahl also had a recurring role as Dieter Braun in the series True Blood in 2012. He starred as Marcus Volturi in the Twilight film series including The Twilight Saga: New Moon in 2009, The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1 in 2011, and The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2 in 2012. Heyerdahl has won five Leo Awards.
